As we gear up to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, we’re bringing it full circle by reaching out to the Mills Public Relations universe to catch up with former colleagues and clients (yes, this is a flat-out “Where Are They Now” column!)

Suzanne Aronowitz joined Mills early in PR career. An Albany NY native, Suzanne was not just Mills’ first seasoned PR hire, she was the Agency’s first bona fide Division 1 athlete, having attended Lehigh University to play lacrosse and major in journalism. Suzanne was among a core group of eight freshman players who led their team during their college careers. After graduation, Suzanne remained active in the sport, both as a player and also as a youth coach.

Suzanne’s drive and talent were plainly evident at Mills, as she led numerous successful campaigns for a number of clients, including large-scale corporate clients such as MBCR and Network Health to consumer-focused organizations such as Bob’s Southern Bistro, Lizzy’s Ice Cream and UBurger.

Suzanne left Mills to focus on technology PR. Her rapid rise in this sector reflects her skill, acumen and well-rounded background. In less than seven years, Suzanne’s career has taken off, first at SHIFT Communications where she became a lead Account Manager and later when she joined global PR giant Weber Shandwick’s technology practice. There, Suzanne earned a position as Vice President and managed the Verizon Wireless account. After winning the Society of New Communications Research’s “Awards of Excellence” for blogger relations and a PR News Digital Award for work on the Verizon Wireless, Suzanne joined IBM as an external relations executive in global consulting, where she supports the IBM Institute of Business Value and Global Business Services practices.

 What Suzanne learned at Mills

“I learned a lot about crisis communications. Working at Mills was my first introduction to the practice and being able to work on the Mass Bay Commuter Rail account was a great experience for me. My favorite experience was working on the UBurger account. We were able to secure great coverage for its grand opening, which put their brand on the map. It’s so nice watching the restaurant pop up in different locations throughout the city over the years.”
